- Flight Training for fixed wing and helicopters mainly in the US.
- Airline Transport Pilot License at Austrian Aviation Training Academy in Graz, Austria

- 1986-1991: Aeronautical Engineering, University of Technology in Munich. Graduation as "Dipl.- Ing."
- Graduate of "Verwaltungs- und Wirtschaftsakademie" (economic studies (VWA)), Munich
- Research Scientist at University of the Armed Forces, Neubiberg, Germany in the years to follow. Focus on preliminary aircraft design and supersonic aerodynamics
- Doctoral thesis on shock wave/boundary layer interactions from UniBW, Neubiberg (Prof. W. Staudacher)
- Graduate of the National Test Pilot School (NTPS), Mojave, Kalifornien, USA as "Master of Science in Flight Test and Evaluation"
- Member of the Cockpit Development Task Force at Fairchild Dornier during the FD728 program
- Member of the Task Force "Aeronautical Information Manual - Flight Test" (= Luftfahrttechnisches Handbuch - Flugversuch, LTH-FV)
- 2000 until 2008: Director Flight Safety, then Director Quality Operations at Austrian Airlines. Developped CRM-Course at Lauda Air together with Capt. Peter Beer.
- Presently in charge of Flight Safety Research at Austrian Airlines
- 2006 to present: Chairman IATA Accident Classification Task Force
- 2010: Chairman of IATA STEADES Taxonomy Task Force
- 2011 to present: Chairman Star Alliance Safety Group, representing all of STAR´s safety pilots
- Certified Expert Witness to the Court
- More than 9000 hrs total time in 70 different class/type aircraft and helicopters
- Holds a Commercial Helicopter Pilot´s License
- Holds Test Pilot Approval
Lecturing
Dr. Reisinger lectures part time on aircraft design and aviation safety at several institutions:
- Beihang University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (BUAA), Beijing, China
- University of Belgrad
- University of Applied Science "FH Joanneum" in Graz, Austria
- 13 years of instruction at Austrian Aviation Training Academy
- Present focus is now on LOC-I. Dieter obtained his aerobatic rating with Spins&More, which is specialised on Upset Recovery Training.
