The Award!

For the fifth time one individual from the test pilot community was honored for his award_barker contributions in making a high risk profession safer. The 2011 award went to Des Barker for his contributions in Airshow Display Safety. Des Barker has written numerous safety articles and a book "Zero Error Margin"

The ceremony was held on the evening of Thursday, November 10th, 2011.

The award honors the achievements regarding flight test safety of late chief test pilot Gérard Guillaumaud.

Gerard lost his life in a tragic flutter accident during a highspeed pass in front of potential customers on November 29th, 2006. It is exactly this kind of accident which the Salzburg workshop addresses: product demonstration with prototype aircraft!

Whether flying displays for an excited crowd or on your home field in front of potential customers - there is a potential for loosing the pilot and a prototype aircraft.
